Why I Set This Table

They say the kitchen table is the heartbeat of the home. It's the place where we shell peas, where we plot our dreams, where the cast iron rests, and where the family gathered before us.

The Brown Sugar Table was born from a simple realization: we deserve a space that is just for us. A space that doesn't ask us to be "strong," to be loud, or to be anything other than exactly who we are.

I created this series of coloring books — Bloom, Cast Iron, and Kin — because I wanted to archive the beauty of our everyday lives. I wanted to see our hair textures, our heritage, and our "soft life" rituals reflected on the page with the honor they deserve.

When you pick up a pencil and find a seat at this table, you aren't just coloring. You are reclaiming your time. You are honoring the ancestors who kept the kitchen warm and the gardens growing. Most importantly, you are giving yourself permission to breathe.

The kettle is always on, and there is always a seat saved for you here.

With warmth and stillness,

The Creator of The Brown Sugar Table
